I did a lot of research before purchasing this timer. I received the smaller timer as a gift – the one with 1.75″ digits. After a few weeks with the smaller unit, I decided to upgrade to the larger unit. I wasn’t able to see the number from the far side during rigorous workouts. I could have made it work, but it was a luxury item I was willing to buy.

On size:
After mounting this timer, the small timer looked like a wrist watch. The 4″ digits are huge. I absolutely love it. Anything bigger would seem like a scoreboard at a football game. This timer is huge for a small gym, and fairly adequate for a large gym. The digits are very bright, even in a bright room.

On pricing:
In terms of pricing, these timers are expensive, that’s just the way it is. I’ve noticed lots of Chinese manufacturers selling these on eBay for cheaper, which I think will drive down the prices overall. I looked at Rogue, which was about the same price and size as this timer. I went with this timer because I had experience with the smaller timer, which has the same functions. I knew it had what I needed.

On functionality:
This timer has a few workouts built in. Fight gone bad, and tabata intervals to name a few. It has a custom program where you can create your own workout by specifying number of rounds and rest intervals in between each, if any. It has a countdown timer and stopwatch which work great. The remote is pretty easy to use after a few weeks of programming custom interval training. I use the remote from a good 20 feet away and it works fine at that distance. When not in use it works as a giant clock (12 or 24 hour).

I leave the unit on 24/7. It should last a long time, seeing as the digits are LED. I will update this review if any problems come up.

I’ve been using the Rep 6 Digit Programmable Interval Timer for a couple weeks now and love it. It’s super easy to program, so a pretty low learning curve for the first week. I went to the Rep Fitness website and watched a youtube video there that was a great walk-through! (5 stars for that!) I use it in our interval training classes and it makes a beep loud enough to be heard over the music. Also, the LED screen is very clear and easy to read from anywhere in the room. Good buy.
