it records steps pretty accurately; it wasn’t at all durable though. within 3 weeks of daily use the clip/spring mechanism had “popped” on one side and broke. I also had MANY problems with it resetting during the day and with the stride length being reset (?). I am assuming that after such a short use that the batteries are alrady low. it also recorded movements (such as using restroom) as steps. I liked this one because I thought that the larger clip would hold to waistbands better – but this wasn’t really the case. one that i got much cheaper was more accurate and durable overall.

Good Basic Pedometer, Good Points: Opens with display readable while attached to your waistband. Spring clip is much better than the folded plastic type. Good accuracy if you set it correctly. Not So Good: Hinge broke – but I do wear it everyday and had been for about 4 months…and it still works fine without the hinge – it just detaches to read now, and easily re-attaches. Distance is off if you don’t change the stride between walking & running.

I bought this pedometer on sale at Sears. I put it on, walked out to my car, drove to a restaurant to eat and walked back out to the car…according to this pedometer, I had already accumulated over 1000 steps just from the short trip to and from the car. Apparently this thing counts steps with every move I make…so the idea of wearing it all day is only effective if you plan to be on your feet walking all day (like a nurse) not sitting at a desk-job and taking the long way to the bathroom in hopes of accumulating extra steps. I tested it by setting it to zero and sitting at my desk…periodically reaching over to open drawers and such…. The old Sportline 345 would only count the steps after you made 5 consecutive steps, so moving around in a car or seat would not count…although neither would taking only 1-2 steps at a time…but I’d rather the count be a little short than way over because then I could get 10,000 steps just by putting everything on my desk just beyond my reach! (It’s also much bulkier than the original…I returned it).
