Bushnell Pro X7 with Jolt

The most powerful Laser Rangefinder in the world. The Pro X7 features incredible ranging capability (550+ yards to a flag). The Pro X7 is accurate to 1/2 yard. Features 7x magnification with HD optics. The Pro X7 is waterproof and tour certified.

PinSeeker with Jolt Technology

Designed exclusively with the bottom of the cup in mind, this mode allows easy acquisition of the flag without inadvertently capturing background target distances. When more than one object is acquired, the closer of the two objects is shown on the LCD display. JOLT Technology eliminates all doubt by delivering short vibrating bursts to reinforce the laser has locked onto the flag. Use what the Pros use, feel the exact distance. FEEL THE JOLT.

Extreme. Speed. Precision. Second Generation Technology

E. S. P. 2 provides yardage faster and more accurately than ever before. Not only has Bushnell increased the acquisition speed to a lightning fast lever, E. S. P. is so accurate that from 5-125 yards the distance is displayed to 1/10th of a yard. Whatever your skill level, Bushnell gives you the most accurate technology in the game – and you’ll have the confidence of knowing you have the exact yardage for every shot you’ll ever hit.

Vivid Display Technology

Created specifically for Bushnell’s premium rangefinders, the Tour Z6, Pro 1M and Pro 1M Slope, this optical enhancement dramatically improves contrast, clarity and light transmission, while increasing the brightness of digital readout information for rapid, positive identification in all lighting conditions. It’s simply the best of heads-up projection displays.

How Bushnell’s Laser Rangefinders Work

Bushnell’s laser rangefinders use an invisible, eye-safe Class 1 Laser beam (as classified by the FDA) which is “bounced” off distant objects with the press of a button. Then, the rangefinder’s high-speed digital clock measures the time it took for a laser beam to reach a target and return to the unit. Next, using advanced digital electronics, the rangefinder instantly calculates the distance within +/- 1 yard and shows the range in either yards or meters on a through-the-lens LCD Display. The entire process is so fast that less than a second elapses between the time you press the button to generate a laser beam to the time the exact range to your target is displayed.

There are two things I care the most about when using a range finder: user friendliness and accuracy. Over the past month, I tried this range finder several times at my local golf course, and I am very satisfied with this range finder.
First, it is accurate. I always do multiple readings on the same pin to see how close each readings are (pin seeker feature off, this feature is on by default). And the differences among the results are always within 1/2 yard. This is what Bushnell claims on the product information page, and I found the claim is absolutely legitimate.
This model is not a slope version, but it still comes with the nice features that Tour version doesn’t have, such as ESP 2, VDT, and waterproof (except Z6). Especially pin seeking with jolt works well. When I range out to the flag, it locks on the flag with the short jolting. I thought I have a pretty steady hands, but looking through the magnified optics is always resulting shaky views, especially distances over 100 yards. With this ‘pin seeker with jolt technology’ in this model, it locks on the flag even with the shaky hands and gives me an accurate reading while my hands are still shaking. (I tried not to shake, but it’s really hard when the pin is over 100 yards away).
Secondly, this is very easy and comfortable to use. There are many range finders that are vertical, and I personally prefer horizontal holding like binoculars. It’s more comfortable to hold and look through in my opinion than holding one vertically. The power button on the top is big, and it was comfortable for both left and right handheld.
Lastly, the built quality. The built quality is very sturdy and nice. The body is waterproof, and I have peace of mind even if it gets wet in the rain. It even comes with a little microfiber lens cleaning cloth. The size and weight is larger and heavier (13.5 oz) than I expected and wanted it to be, but it is not bulky or burdening to use and carry around. It comes with a nice case with a clip as well.
Overall, this is a easy to use and very accurate range finder for the serious players who want confidence. The price is a bit higher, I think, compared to some basic range finders that don’t have the nice feature like this one does. I think this model also could be a nice upgrade from the basic range finders and or good investment for the long lasting usage. This one comes with a 2 year warranty, not 1 year, and I truly think this will last many, many years (maybe ten or more) based on the build quality and durability.

I think I’ve found my new buddy for the driving range.

Does the X7 perform wonders on the course? Sure. Does it really “find” the pin and buzz? It does, and shockingly well — not to mention how quickly it picks distance. But for me, where this really, really shines is on the driving range.

On the range with a big bucket, I can really measure how capable I am with each club. In turn, that gives me what I need to improve on the range, and to know exactly which club is going to be best on the course. I really think the usefulness of the X7 on the driving range is undersold here.

As far as overall impressions go, I’m not sure if every unit is packaged this way, or just the evaluation unit I was sent, but there was no padding in the box, besides the carrying case. It seemed kind of weird to me.

The device feels very solid, and the range finder button is perfectly placed — even for lefties like me. The optical quality is very good, though at higher contrasts, you can see the entire rectangular LED display panel, instead of just the LED information.

The X7 uses a photo lithium battery, and unless you’re constantly on the course, you’re probably going to want to remove it in between use. After all, this is a pretty expensive device to lose to a leaky battery. It seems obvious to me, though I was disappointed that the carrying case doesn’t have a place to put the included battery or spares. The case itself is pretty nice quality, so I was really surprised to see that corner cut.

The only other gripe I have with the X7 is lining it up. You’d think for a mono-sight device, it would be pretty easy, but it took a little practice to hold it just so. That was unexpected, but certainly not a dealbreaker for me. If you wear glasses though, it might get a little tricky.

All things considered, I was pretty impressed with this rangefinder, and it has a permanent home in my golf bag.

The Bushnell Pro X& Golf Laser Rangefinder is an excellent tool for anyone’s golf game. I describe myself as an average golfer at best. One of the major issues that I usually have is club selection. On the course, you can usually find markers letting you know how far away from the flag. With this rangefinder, you can zero in on the flag, as it locks onto the flag and than provides a quick vibration to let you know the target has been acquired. The display than "tells" you precisely how far away you are so that you can select the proper club. You can also determine where the hazards lie in relation to the flag, thus this tool helps your overall game. At least in terms of understanding the precise distance. The image is stunning with a 7X magnification which really lets you see the course. If you are looking for help in managing your game, I can’t recommend this enough. This device works as well in the sun, as it does with more subdues lighting, when there are clouds. This is waterproof, though I have yet to put that to the test. The rangefinder purports to have a one mile range, thought I haven’t put that to the test. This comes in a durable carrying case and is fairly light. Now, I am a novice golfer and this is the first rangefinder I have ever even used. Thus, this review is for this product alone and is not a comparison to the other rangefinders.
