Quality Meter Per The Professionals, October 27, 2014
This review is from: Nonin GO2 Achieve Finger Pulse Oximeter Green (Sports)
I am about to purchase my second Nonin Go2 Achieve, after misplacing my first. We have a vacation home at 10,000 feet. I found I was getting sick on my second day there; to the point of requiring oxygen and IV fluids. When I took my first Nonin out on a trip with me, I checked my O2 Sat upon awakening the first morning and found it to be 72%. Surely, I thought, this must be inaccurate. I later went to the EMT station to have it checked, and it was running neck nad neck with their meter for about 15 minutes. Long story short, an overnight study found I was below 88% for all eight hours of sleep, and below 80% for six hours. I was eventually diagnosed with early pulmonary fibrosis. My doctor at National Jewish Health in Denver has told me that Nonin makes a very accurate meter. You can’t get a better recommendation than that! After five years, I’m sure my first one is still working, wherever it is. Now I use my Nonin to titrate my oxygen when I am at the cabin.

Life Saver – Literally, June 1, 2014
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Nonin GO2 Achieve Finger Pulse Oximeter Green (Sports)
You have probably heard people use the word "Literally" so many times when it didn’t actually apply to the situation. Well in this case it actually does. My mom has suffered from COPD for the last couple of years and it has been a constant up and down battle. Over the last couple of months she has been having a really rough time and we could not figure out why. The doctor she normally goes to see didn’t seem to think there was a problem and just told her to wait it out. Well I went ahead and ordered this device after researching COPD and the importance of monitoring oxygen and heart rate levels.

Pros:
-The device seemed just as accurate and the one at the doctors office. (Right after getting her reading at doctors office came home and was within %1 of doctors reading.)
-Quick readings: 30 seconds max
-Turns off automatically to save battery life and turns back on when finger is placed in device. (These devices seem to love eating batteries just read the reviews on any brand – So a very handy feature.)
-Nice fit for large and small fingers.

Cons:
-Back light is not the brightest could be hard to read in sunlight.
-Eats batteries (Shuts off automatically and uses one AAA battery so not that big of deal.)

Now back to the story. Well after we got the device we went ahead and started using it. When my mom took her reading it came back as 96% oxygen and 40 beats a minute on her heart rate. We thought this thing has to be wrong. The next day she had a doctors appointment and figured she would take it with her and see if it really was that low or just inaccurate. Well it turned out her heart rate was that low and the device was very accurate. The doctor didn’t seem to be concerned though and just sent her home. At home we kept an eye on her heart and eventually it dropped down to thirty beats and she went to the emergency room. It turned out she needed a pace maker.

To make a long story short if we hadn’t monitored her heart with this she would have more and likely passed away that night. Everything worked out in the end and it does to show how important it is to monitor your bodies workings and get things taken care of when something is wrong. Of course always remember that these’s device are not meant to give you sound medical advice but can always be a guide to ensuring that your body is in good working order.

After I lost my first nonin GO2, I purchased …, August 28, 2014
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Nonin GO2 Achieve Finger Pulse Oximeter Green (Sports)
After I lost my first nonin GO2, I purchased a cheaper pulse Ox. It was slow to show a drop in my oxygen level. I couldn’t trust it.
Then I had gotten a new nonin. I compared it to the cheap pulse ox, the pulse ox at Apria, and and my doctors pulse ox. The Nonin was the first to show a drop in oxygen levels. This is important to me since I’m trying to stay active.
I wouldn’t trust anything other than the nonin. It keeps me out of trouble.
