This review is from: Geopalz Kids Digital Tri-Axis Motivational Pedometer for Walking, Running and Earning Prizes (Sports)
My son has had his geopalz pedometer for just over a year, and we can’t say enough good things about it! In that time, he’s walked almost 4 million steps! He loves seeing how many steps he’s gotten each day and how far he’s walked (the geopalz website shows how far you’ve walked from your home since you got it). So far – he’s walked more than halfway across the US! We have had some issues with pedometers not working, but the geopalz customer service is super helpful – they have a lifetime guarantee and are super quick to replace the pedometer at no cost to us. Love giving these as gifts too – its such a great way to get kids up and moving and they love the rewards! We’ll soon be ordering another for our other child! Yay, geopalz! Can’t recommend them enough.

Great concept but too hard to open and put on!, April 5, 2013

This pedometer is great in all aspects except for the fact my 5 year old can not open it or put it on herself. I, being a pretty athletic woman, can hardly get it open. I actually scraped my finger, and made it bleed, on the side of the pedometer while trying to get my fingernail under the lip of the cover in efforts to open it. I tried putting some spray Pam on the edge, too, to make it easier, but.. no… My daughter doesn’t want to wear it because she can’t open it herself to check her steps. The thing was not cheap so that’s super frustrating. I read other reviews saying how difficult it was to open but thought, "Oh come on… it’s a pedometer, how hard can it be?" Take it from me, it’s very, very hard. Like, you get sweat running down your back hard, from trying to open the darn thing. The other problem we have with this is the actual attachment device on the back. It comes with a "slider" and a "spring-action pinchy" back. Both are extremely difficult to use and get on the child. Again, my "also strong" child can not put it on themselves. The first time we put it on, it took me 5 minutes to slide on the side of my child’s "thin" leggings. I then thought I would be smart and change it to the "spring-action pinchy" back ( you know, like a close pin)… Yeah.. that was just as bad. It takes almost two people to open the thing to put it on. Once it goes on, the thing gets top heavy and falls off. All and all, I would not recommend this because it is too difficult to use. The concept is great. I love the computer program that you can enter steps and track, the style is cute, and the inside function is great. However, it’s like having a brand-new BMW that doesn’t run. Pointless!

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A MOTIVATING AWESOME PRODUCT FOR OUR DAUGHTER!!!!, February 28, 2014
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
We recently purchased this for our daughter after searching high and low for a pedometer for a child. She loves my fitbit flex, but that was not an appropriate option for our 8 year old daughter (due to the price and the fact there was not panel to see steps). While it may not be as high tech as others on the market, it does have a screen to let my daughter know how many steps she has done for the day. This is great for instant gratification for a younger child, as she doesn’t have access to regular device to sync to in order to get that data.

The first day she received it, she was running around the house trying to get more steps than me (we couldn’t run outside given that we were suffering from a -30 degree day in Wisconsin- ughh). This has given her a new outlook on exercise and is making it fun for her again (after a lull of harsh Wisconsin Weather).

We recently had an issue with the pedometer. I emailed the company on a Friday and within one hour I had a response and a solution to the problem. Which only made me more pleased with the purchase of this product. We plan on creating goals ourselves for our daughter to reach to earn more intrinsic rewards at home (mommy or daddy active dates, board game time, etc.) to help keep her motivated.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a reasonably priced pedometer for a younger child.
